I started Spooky Marion in September of 2008 with my nephew. The project began as a result of our mutual interest in Marion’s history and our belief that, if one is willing to look for them, even small towns like Marion are full of interesting stories. While the truth of the stories themselves may occasionally be debatable, I have made every effort to cite the sources of the information used to create this site. This site is also a work in progress, and I will continue to update it as I dig up stories about Marion’s spooky side.

  1. Wow Seth, I found this website randomly on Facebook and just finished reading as many stories as I could. I had no idea you were one of the voices behind all this information. This is great. Thank you. 🙂

  2. I was born and grew up in Marion and am now living in California. I have my own video production company called Image Design Video. I ran across your website and found it very interesting, especially after having lived in Marion. Has anyone ever asked about making a documentary based in the stories you have collected?

  3. Thank you for including a picture and history of the old “Wood and Coal Stoves” building. I’ve done some research and can’t find any mention of it as “Hill School.” I’ll keep looking into it. 😉 Great site!

  4. Hello. Marion is my hometown. I’m almost 64 and lived in Fair Park until my freshman year in 1971-72 when we moved out to Pleasant school district. I remember when I was in grade school, there was a rumor about a wolfman running around Marion. Scared the bejesus out of me. I didn’t want to go outside. Have you ever heard this story?

    1. Yes I have! I have even met a guy who claims to know the story behind it, but he won’t let me publish it because it would embarrass the man behind the “wolfman” incidents.

  5. I bought your book at CVS, and I am enjoying it a great deal. Thank you for putting it together. I have lived in Marion for the majority of my life, left a few times and was drawn back. It was refreshing to hear that you feel at ease in Marion because that’s the same feeling I have as well. I can’t put a finger on it, but it’s there. Thanks again Josh, looking forward to reading more. P.S. I have heard several accounts of Correctional Officers at MCI speak of a dark entity that raom the maintenance tunnel at night. It’s possible you may know a correctional officer or two from MCI, and I am sure many of the Captains or Lieutenants would have heard about it. Good Luck Sir!
