I just started reading your website today and this story really caught my attention. Mainly because my dad was a boisterous teen during the late 60′s early 70′s. I don’t remember him ever telling this tale, so I called him up and asked him about it. If you ask dad a question you always get the truth, so of course he admitted that he was one of those kids that drove by this “Mongoloid House” and pestered its residents. He also stated that the house in question was located on County Road 26 (Marseilles-Galion) somewhere, which would be north of Marion, nowhere near any of the other sites listed on this webpage, and the house was bulldozed not burned. I asked him why kids thought this was fun and he answered back that the elderly couple, who were farmers, looked funny because their heads were too big for their bodies. The residents, who just wanted to be left alone, often chased the teenagers and occasionally fired off a shotgun blast aimed at the sky. Dad doesn’t know their name, which would be great to know, or if they were originally from Marion County. What I believe is that there are really two tales being combined into one here. I think if you looked into this location, it would shed new light on this tale.

I graduated Harding in ’72. Looking into my home town, I found this fascinating site. Great stories which are very well written. Are you guys professional journalists? You should be! I’m a big fan and subscriber of Weird NJ where I live now. Check it out.

During the 60′s the Girl Scouts took a tour of the old city hall and there was an axe on display that had fingerprints on it from a murder between neighbors on Fairground St. across from the east entrance to Fair Park. One house is gone, but the other may still be there. I remember it because I lived in Fair Park and the two small houses were both still there at that time. Unfortunately, I don’t remember when the murder occurred.

Again, great site. I’ll definitely buy the book!

I went to the house 2 years ago and I have pictures of figures and everything. I got choked twice. I will go back to that house over and over again until someone believes it’s haunted. I will get more pictures.

There is no story behind this house. It is set up in a trust, that’s why no info is found. It is all word of mouth, rumors that have been made up. No one was killed here, no mongloids lived here, and you will be able to drive away! Yes, it caught fire ten plus years ago. All these stories are getting old.

The story of Roxie Green is interesting. She was a relative somehow. On my grandmother’s side. I have only heard of her maybe twice in 47 years. I do know that her killer is still living in Marion. He’s 96 or so.

No I completely believe all of you. It just gives me, like, wicked chills. The reports from the police and then the homicide detectives changed 3 times. I wish I knew the truth.
